Why new caulk over old caulk fails
New caulk won’t stick to old caulk or soap film. I cut out every bit of the old bead, clean and dry the joint, then lay a new one.
Plan around the cure time
Silicone needs about 24 hours without water. An evening appointment works well: shower that morning, and the tub’s ready the next evening.
Questions
Will the mold come back?
Mold grows where water sits. Fresh silicone with a mildew inhibitor, plus running the bath fan after showers, keeps it away much longer.
What color caulk should I use?
White or clear for most tubs. I’ll bring both so you can choose once you see them.
